Video: Evening Grosbeak

WOHOOOO!!! This is an Evening Grosbeak, and the first male of this species that I ever knowingly had in my yard. (I had a female in 2018). They are having an irruption year, and everybody around me seemingly got them for weeks now, just not me. I am so happy right now, and I hope he brings his family 😀

International livestream summit with WildlifeKate from the UK!

Wildlife Kate is a fellow Birdsy user and has some wonderful camera setups in the UK. We agreed to share each other’s livestreams for a bit so everybody can learn more about and enjoy European and American birds. Her waterhole was built out of an old, recycled tire. It was planted up and covered with soil and plants. It is well used by a variety of birds and mammals, including several kinds of Tits, European Robins, Blackbirds, Pigeons, Nuthatches, Bullfinches, Woodpeckers, Chaffinches etc… You can check out her website here and the livestream here. Below is a montage of what you can see at the waterhole.

Video: Rose-breasted Grosbeak family at the bath

This was so cute this morning. Papa Grosbeak is taking his son to the pool and feeding him. And then both bathe. I made a little platform area by the waterfall for the smaller birds, and the babies seem to like it to get a first feel for the pool. There are so many baby birds around at the moment, it should be fun to watch the livestream for the next couple of days. I promise I will try to keep up with wiping the splash shield.

Video: Grackle examining the new pool

We improved the bird bath (still needs adjustments though), and this Grackle cracked me up. They are all still a bit shy around it, I think the pebbles must feel weird on their feet.

Good morning!

A cute new visitor has shown up in the garden, and I spotted it on the livestream just now. A tiny adorable baby bunny! I have been a little slow with photos lately, and I am sorry about that. The yard is still comparatively quiet because most birds are nesting right now, and we have been busy getting our veggie beds and the garden in shape. I have seen some hummingbirds around too, and I hope they will become more frequent and stop being so camera shy. The ghostly noises you hear on the livestream are the Starling babies. They have started to hang around yesterday and are basically heralding the arrival of the bird babies. I am also on the lookout for the Bluebird gang. So good things and more photos are coming soon, hopefully. In about two weeks, I will also make the first donation to Feeding America. I hope everyone has a splendid Monday!
