Spring is in the air,
and there is no denying it, despite the frost, and the birds are starting to show up as couples. I saw Blue Jays gathering stuff, the Robins are becoming more defensive, the MoDos are snogging things up and the House Finches are getting romantic. So much to see, such nasty weather!
These are strange times,
when bird migration is underway but you can’t see results yet, the weather is spring-like but also still full of frosty surprises, and we are kind of in an in-between. However, there is also a lot of love in the air! House Finches, like many other birds, strengthen their bond during mating season by feeding each other. It is adorable to watch. Come good into Friday!
Love is in the air,
as can be seen by the birds’ (more or less hilarious) behavior but also heard in bird song all over the place. Temperatures are not there yet but nature seems to be very ready to move on from winter. Just like me. Happy Friday!
Everybody seems to feel
a bit like spring these days! Just from experience, I am always a bit hesitant to call it in but there are little signs all over. This Cardi lady with beautiful eyebrows has started to show up at the cameras, and today, a male joined her! The sounds in the yard have changed too, and I think spring is really seriously on the way. Spring is my favorite season, so I am always excited to experience it, but this year, somehow I am even more impatient.
Love is in the air...
A Northern Flicker has discovered that our gutter has a nice resonating quality and has drummed to impress the ladies quite a bit. Which prompted us to build an experimental starling-proof Flicker nest box. I am excited to see how that goes. Well, and the Blue Jays are also getting cozy :)
